The following is a description of the guitar and some pictures of the work in progress. The guitar has the following features:

  • The guitar has a Stratocaster-style body made of solid alder with a natural high-gloss finish.
  • The pickguard is simulated black anodized aluminum
  • The guitar has a hand-crafted maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. The maple has moderate flame figure, and a vintage V rear profile, and mother-of-pearl 7mm position marker dots
  • The guitar is equipped with two Fender Noiseless Pickups in the neck and middle position, plus a Seymour Duncan Custom model TB-5 (Trembucker version) humbucking pickup in the bridge position. The guitar has a miniswitch to enable Ken to switch the Humbucker to single-coil operation for the more glassy "Strat" sound.
  • The tremolo bridge, tuners, and other hardware are chrome finish
  • The neck attachment screws and pickguard screws are stainless steel for long rust-free life

The first five pictures show the body under construction--Cutting the body to shape, after sanding, the routing of the pickup cavities, then hanging up ready for finishing, and after several coats of lacquer have been applied:

These next two pictures show the neck during the finishing process--first the front, with another neck we were building at the same time, and then from the back, showing the nice flame figure in the maple:

These pictures show what the guitar looked like the first time it was assembled to check the fit of the parts -- but the parts are only fitted together, but not bolted together. At this point the body had about a dozen coats of gloss lacquer on it, and was ready for final wet-sanding and polishing. The neck was completed, except for the addition of the custom-designed headstock logo, tuners, and string trees.
